Abstract
Objective: Aim of present study was to investigate herbal formulation containing the extract of fresh tender leaves of Mangifera indica, Zingiber officinale, Andrographis paniculata, Enhydra flactuans, Cynodon dactylon, Azadirachta indica and Centella asiatica for its anti-ulcer activity. Materials and Methods: Hydroalcoholic extract of different plant leaves were selected for poly herbal formulation development. In this study different model like stress induced anti-ulcer activity by water immersion and aspirin induced anti-ulcer activity by pyloric ligation was selected for anti-ulcer activity evaluation keeping Omeprazole as the standard drug. Results: Keeping Omeprazole 20mg/kg as standard while using 250mg/kg as (LDPM- low dose poly herbal mixture) and 500mg/kg as (HDPM- high dose poly herbal mixture) in both experimental models subsequent anti-ulcer activity has been found. Conclusion: By focusing on the results it can be assumed that poly-herbal mixture also possess anti-ulcer activity as mentioned in folklore.
